So Becca is gonna be a momma and I am gonna be a daddy :)) I suppose I should have suspected something was up when she started burping Gus (our other bundle of joy, a Pug dog) after he ate every meal!! Needless to say we were both very excited, scared, nervous!! For now we are waiting to spread the word, which is particularly hard for Becca because, as everyone knows, she cannot keep a secret!! So, we have started this blog in advance of telling everyone. I'm sure everyone will ask us a ton of questions, so consider this a resource!!
The lurid details: Let us just say that The Player to be Named Later is most likely a Spring-Break baby. Less studying leads to, um, idle hands and stuff. I had a week off from school, Becca had a few days off, it is the oldest story in the book. Becca told me on April 8th, right in the middle of my studying for a maternity and pediatrics test (go figure, huh?). She handed me a little one-zee that she had bought months ago (after I proposed of course and we had officially started talking about baby plans) that clearly stated "My daddy is a triathlete". She started crying a bit (happy tears, of course) and I swear the allergies that I don't have almost kicked in!! Got a little misty that night. Anyway, I'm waiting to show off the "It isn't my diaper that stinks, it's the Yankees" one-zee!!
As far as I can tell, the baby will be due around December 17 (using Nagele's rule, as every good nursing student should know). So, get ready for a ton of "Our baby's first Christmas" cards. We have a lot of planning to do, but for now we are going to enjoy getting ready for our wedding which is coming up in 4 weeks, 4 days, and about 16 hours as of this writing. After the honeymonn I do believe we are going to enter full baby-prep mode. One request, I don't care how it gets here or from whom, but there best be an official "Ironman" baby stroller delivered here so Becca and I can take The Player to be Named Later for his/her training runs!!
